2015 Sonora Swim and Dive Season and Workout Schedule

Welcome to the new season. This is going to be a good one!

We have one goal this year…put new numbers up on the wall!

The 2015 training groups will be as follows:

Group 1: Monday – Friday 1:45 – 2:45
This group will be swimmers who are new to the sport and may need additional help getting their strokes and basic skills. These swimmers may move up to other groups and will compete as they are ready.

Group 2: Monday – Friday 2:45 – 4:15
This group will consist of the top swimmers in the program who are not practicing with their club teams. This group will be chosen based on their ability to train at the varsity level, and factors such as speed, attitude, and effort.

Group 3: Monday – Friday 4:15 – 5:30
This group will consist of Junior Varsity and Frosh/Soph swimmers who are familiar with all 4 strokes and can do them legally. This group will also be available for those swimmers with a 6th period class who would other wise be in Group 1. This group will do similar interval training workouts of Group 2.

**Club Swimmers: You will be released to your club coaches for training purposes, and will be required to have your coach sign off on your attendance weekly. We have limited the number of meets we participate in so that we may train towards the championship meets. Your attendance at all meets will be discussed individually, however some league meets will be mandatory.

Sonora Swim and Dive Finish STRONG for 2014

Sonora’s girls’ varsity swim team finished fifth in CIF! Outstanding performances include:
• Taylor Ault who won both of her individual events – the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle;
• Sarah Stacer who finished eighth in the backstroke and eighteenth in the breast stroke;
• April Martinez who finished seventh in the 100-yard butterfly and twelfth in the 200 freestyle;
• The medley relay, including Jillian Jacobsen, Sarah Stacer, April Martinez, and Taylor Ault who finished sixth;
• The 4 by 100-relay which included Jillian Jacobsen, Sarah Stacer, April Martinez, and Taylor Ault who finished fifth. All of these girls who scored for us are freshmen, so our future is very bright! Also, with an outstanding performance was Becca Ayer who finished eleventh in diving last Monday.

The boys’ varsity swim team was led by Ben Blevins-Boor who swam the 100 butterfly finishing thirteenth and the 100-yard backstroke finishing eighth. The 4 by 100 relay team that includes Ben Blevins-Boor, Alex Deweese, Mitchell Choi, and Ryan Corruvibous finished fifteenth.

Great job, Raiders!
